One of the first thing they though you at the magic academy is that if you know for sure that a rogue is in your vicinity, but you cannot see him than prayer is your best bet.

Oh wait. No mana. DOH! Just pray then.
Go back to your flashback and drink the potion in the ice barrier.
Enlarge/Recover your Mana bar by altering your personal record again.
realize you’ve had the potion all along after another adventure long ago.
Look at that strange red dot in the upper left corner.

Do a barrel roll.

Deblin’s facial expression of pure, malevolent glee obviously means he has the situation under control.
Reenter flashback. Advance plot.
