Acquire side quest
You fail…instead you acquire a MAIN quest. It’s been a while since you’ve had an actual goal. The falling of the suns marks the beginning of your march of glory. The Dari forest call for help must reach general Shen, and you’ll be damned if you don’t see that happen.

Have Douglas ride the grasshopper mount, and then hop on Douglas’ back. Hopefully you’ll go faster with some kind of mount doubling speed, or some-such.

Hurry, the sooner you can do this the sooner you can go on to find a cure for the curses, after which you can get on with finding your friends/the magic skulls.

Re-read the familiars section of the rulebook, and look for one that can cure.
Make the journey quickly and without event
Fight some random encounters along the way and gain a few levels.
