“That our paths, sometimes take unexpected turns, and we should not fear this new future that is presented to us, but accept and work to make the best out it.”
Too often we seem to forget that the stranger right next to us is an individual himself. Every person has his own story, his own feelings,
and his own motives.
“Fate has no true power on us. Fortune is not set on stone. Destiny will not manifest without merit.”
or
“One cannot fight its destiny, only fail to fulfill it.”
or
“None of us really matter, we are insignificant and unable to change the world… that is, alone.”
or
“Hmmm… army guy thought he was good, but acted bad, Flecther wanted to be evil, but had a good hearth, aaaand Jaaaaneeee… ssssheeee… weeee… weee… ouurr friends… I meeeaaan… the party was…”
People never are inherently bad or good. Their true being is only determined by themselves – and sometimes those who are destined to be instruments of evil become instead the only hope for light.
“I learnt of the story of Nathan, and of his errors. I learnt of the story of Jane, and of her Love, so great to love even enemies. I learnt of the story of Fletcher, and his redemption. I learnt that I must not seek to destroy my enemies, lest I be destroyed with them. That what I am walking around the world for since two years at least… is not killing Verzavt… but save him.”
What’s with the high pressure cryptic noise, anyway? Maybe these stories have something in common, or some specific point, but if so, there’s a lot of noise to filter out. If its critically important to make a point or teach a lesson, then actually make the point or teach the lesson and skip the cryptic story time shenanigans. Most games would at least present this as a multiple choice question if a specific answer is required…
There’s four stories. Of course the pressure is going to come on at the third story. The “cryptic noise” is just to make it so that it is possible to get to the fourth story without it being too obvious what the message is at the first one.
At least, I assume so.
Lesson learned: The knight likes telling stories, so if there’s another story to be told, it will probably be told, whether or not we have somehow learned the right lesson. So; shrug and say “tell me the next story”.
Learn that a person may not be what they believe they are, or how they are perceived by others; Nathan believed he was a hero, but he was a soulless brute, Jane was thought to just be a cruel emotionless undead, but her passion for her kind led to their freedom, and James himself is in fact very intelligent and powerful; remember his INT score, as well as all the cryptic things we saw back in his childhood memories, and the fact that he’s been casting, essentially, epic level spells on the occasion, or the fact that he managed to create a potion that made his strong enough to wrestle a dragon, and let us not forget his lineage. James has been so used to believing that he is stupid, he hasn’t even been able to see the signs right in front of him; he is the Chosen One.

Saving the world will be a group effort.

That success comes when you value and support your companions and friends.
What makes the difference between people is not what happens to them. It’s what they make happen to other.

Admit you need one last, little… hint.
That the last story is mine. And it is yet to be told. BY ME.

You’ve learned that you can’t be blinded by prejudice or your ideals. You have to look past them to see who people really are.

We can choose if we intend to be good or evil, but it’s not up to us if we ARE good or evil.
The soldier thought he was a hero, he massacred hundreds, the tiefling thought he was evil, he saved a city.
